Jane Pritchard put in a strong ride in extremely windy conditions to finish as fastest lady rider at the DB Max 10 mile time trial.  The event was held at the Castle Combe race circuit, and Jane’s time of 27.19 was good enough for 23rd overall.  James Chant also took part and also struggled against the wind and finished 18th in 25.29.  Rob Pears (Bath CC) was the overall winner in 21.09.  Here are some photos of Jane in action

Simon Rouse continued his B.A.R. qualifying events today, this time at the WTTA 100 mile tt at Cirencester.  This event was also plagued by horrible windy conditions and there were 15 non-finishers.  Those competitors who did finish had times a lot slower than last season.  Simon got home in 4 hours 39.25, describing it as the hardest ride he’s done and reporting that he nearly fell off the bike at the end.  2009 victor Jeff Jones (Chippenham Wheelers) was the winner again in 3.48.38.
Simon was also in action on Saturday, teaming up with Sarah Roberts at the BDWCA 2-up 10 mile tt.  This event is held at Ringwood and is for 2-up pairings of one male and one female rider.  Sarah and Simon were joined by Emma Bradley and James Chant who managed to get round in 25.32 to finish 5th overall and win a prize for second-placed club team.  Sarah and Simon got thoroughly soaked on their run by a downpour that plagued the later starters and they finished 12th overall with 30.46.
Emma Bradley had her first go at road racing last week, competing at the weekly Upavon Airfield criterium for 3rd and 4th cat riders.  Emma managed to hang on to the bunch of around 55 starters for a few miles but eventually finished two laps down in 33rd place from the 40 finishers and is vowing to go back for another crack at it.
Charles Rees managed a rare feat at the Frome Wheelers club 10, putting in another strong ride and finishing with a sub-22 minute ride.  In recent years, only Rob Pears and Leon Boulton (both Bath CC) have been quicker than Charles’ time of 21.58 on this course.
