A small group of Gillingham wheelers were out for a Sunday ride, running along the side of a relatively safe Somerset stream when suddenly a great
white shark lunged out of the water and started to devour veteran cyclist Mike Smith.

Nigel Eades who witnessed the incident could not believe his eyes and used his camera phone to capture this image from a safe distance away.
Alan Hunt (ex Gillingham butcher) who made up the trio of cyclists declined to comment at the time but later said shark steaks would not be on the hunt menu
this week.
