Due to the better weather forecast, the club rides will be happening on Sunday, meeting at the slightly later time of 9:30 to coincide with Vince’s winter training ride. The forecast is looking mostly dry and sunny with maybe the odd shower, but the roads will still be wet with standing water in places – so overshoes and mudguards are recommended.
Vince’s training ride will take the place of the pink ride, this week it is hill training and will be a relaxed pace generally, followed by bigger efforts up the hills and re-group at the top. He hasn’t created a route to share, but expect plenty of climbing practice and around a 3 hr duration. You don’t need to be a pink group rider to take part, as pace in between the hills will not be too intense.
The blue and white rides will head east to Buckhorn Weston and Wincanton, with the whites heading to Foddington via Sparkford, and the blues to Ilchester and Charton Mackrell. Both routes then return via Galhampton and Wincanton.
Meet at 9.30 am at the Wheels car park, Station Road, Gillingham. Please ensure you download your chosen route to your GPS device, and remember to bring your ride essentials, particularly sufficient liquid refreshments.
Blue Route: 47 miles (76 km), 2518 ft elevation – est speed 14.5 to 16 mph
White Route: 37 miles (59km), 1718 ft elevation – est speed 12.5 – 13.5 mph
