Only 16 riders turned out for tonight’s tt, the sensible ones stayed away. The conditions weren’t quite as bad as it looked like it was going to be compared to mid-afternoon, but a strong West wind meant that the last section of the course was pretty hard. The wind also caused a few frights on the outward leg, especially to the riders using deep section front wheels and disc rears.
Josh Day set the quickest time with an excellent 23.43, just nine seconds ahead of Simon Barfoot. Vince Hounsome was a further 13 seconds back in third. Club chairman Daryol Laws managed to set a time nearly two minutes faster than round one.
There were five juniors riding, with Josh being the fastest ahead of Barney Cox who put in a great ride to match his time from last week despite the tougher conditions.

Elsewhere, Don Tanner went over to Glynneth in South Wales for a 25 mile tt at the R25/3L course, known as one of the quickest courses in the country due to its long downhill section. Conditions weren’t ideal, a tailwind out with a headwind back but Don managed a 1.02.48. Drag2Zero riders took the first four places, with Matt Bottrill setting a super-fast 46.47 and with his teammates Mark Holton and Derek Parkinson setting a new national team’s record of 2.23.46.
