A couple of the Wheelers hopped across the border on Sunday 25 June 2023 to take over the streets of central Cardiff.
The event was a fast, draft-legal (unusual in the amateur sport) and technical sprint triathlon (750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run) which was a qualifier for next year’s world championships in the lovely Malaga. The Cardiff weather was Iberian, so much so that the the water temperature was too high for wetsuits.
Both Innes Wright (the short one, 3rd in M55) and Chris Giles (the tall one, 2nd in M40) booked their British team slots with solid swims, strong bike legs and sub-19 5ks. Job done
