Early on Sunday 21 May The Wheelers were out in force in Dorchester.
A 300m pool swim followed by a bike trip around Hardy’s Monument (21k) finishing with a sprightly 5k run in decent weather was on the cards.
Rich White (m30) was the first Wheeler off and powered his way to the second fastest bike split and third swiftest run on his way to an excellent 6th (and 2nd in AG) in only his second tri. Innes Wright (m50) managed 9th (and another 2nd in AG), but it was the veteran Vince Hounsome (m60) who took the honours with an overall 12th whilst topping the podium in AG. All this in front of GDW’s very own Angie and Dave Barlow (supporting the Wheelers and daughter Katie).
An interesting stat – if you are both a Wheeler and lying in second place in AG there is a 100% certainty that you will have a dramatic fall on the final speed bump of the run. Both Rich and Innes have the scars to prove it.
