Castle Combe
A large contingent of Gillingham & District Wheelers attended the Good Friday meet at Castle Combe race circuit. Due to the fine weather the maximum number of riders of 150 was reached in many of the senior categories. In the U14 race both James and Connor Geddes had a steady race and are beginning to show good form over the 10 miles, in a crash strewn U16 race over 12 miles James Hywel-Davies did well to avoid several crashes ending up on the grass on one occasion. In the 4th Cat race GDW had 4 riders Mark Geddes, Chris Gray, James Foster and Dan Brockway racing over 25 miles. Dan was the best finisher in about 10th place, the others all finished comfortably in the bunch. In the 3rd Cat race Mike Smith, Pete Humphreys and Junior rider James Howell competing over 32 miles and all finished safely in the bunch. In the E/1/2 race over 32 miles both Barney Cox and Charles Rees (Ride 24/7) had a fast and furious race and both finished in the bunch. Sarah Wheeler competed in the Ladies race where there were 3 Olympic Talent team members who built up a commanding lead over the rest of the bunch.
