The Rapha Festive 500 returns for 2023, the aim is to ride 500km between Christmas and New Years eve (8 days). Quite a number of club riders over the years have completed this, and this can be completed either virtually or more traditionally on roads. Paddy Dunne in 2014 was 3rd overall in the world and cycled an awesome total of 1740 km.
There will be an Xmas eve ride this Sunday of approx 60 miles to start the challenge off, which will depart from Wheels, Station Road Gillingham at 09:00. After returning to Gillingham for refreshments and food, there will be an option to do some further miles before heading off to Longleat to visit the festive lights , this ride will depart Wheels at 16:30 and will be approx 30 miles.
Vince Hounsome is planning his usual Swanage ride (with a ferry via Sandbanks ) – its weather dependent and the provisional date is Wed 27th Dec with a reserve day of Thurs 28th. The pace will be in the region of 16-17 mph.
