Another surprisingly mild morning was enjoyed by 65 starters on Sunday at the latest Inside Park mountain bike race near Blandford. The recent dry weather meant that the course was at its best and there were some fast lap times, with Kim Little on his new Merida leading the way, completing the three laps in one hour, eight minutes and 29 seconds. Kim was a minute clear of second placed James Horton.
Andy Parsons was another rider on a new bike, he was having his first race on his 650b-wheeled Giant. Andy put in some quick laps to finish in seventh, around three and a half minutes down on Kim. James Chant was riding one of Kim’s stable of superbikes, James was lapping around two minutes quicker than normal and was set for 14th until picking up some stray fencing wire which wrapped itself around the bike’s rear wheel. He carried the bike to the finish, jogging home in 16th.
GDW Youth Academy rider Toby Easby managed to get two laps in and finish as third junior, lapping four minutes quicker than his previous best time. As can be seen below, Toby also managed to get considerably more airborne than many of the other riders.
