Mud and Sweat are running an offroad stage race on Dartmoor on September 29th. The stages will be a mix of terrain which will go to making up either a 27kms or 35 kms total. More info here
The hillclimb season will soon be in full swing, there are loads in the South West, see the CTT events page for listings. Mid Devon CC are holding a double header this year of Haytor and Widdecombe which are sure to be popular with the Tour of Britain having its first ever summit finish at Haytor this year. Entry closes on 15th September it costs £15 for the pair, send to P Loader, 14 Abbotswood, Kingsteington, Newton Abbot, TQ12 3AB.
The MDCC event has been moved to the 28th so it doesn’t clash with Minhead CC’s hillclimb on the 29th. This will be held on the 4 miles Porlock toll road, send a cheque by 15th September to T Needham, 26 North Road, Wilton, Taunton, TA4 4SN
The West DC are again having their hills extravavganza on October 5th/6th. The idea is that the events are close enough and timed so that riders can compete in all of them, legs permitting. On the morning of the 5th the first event will be run by Chippenham Wheelers, in the afternoon it’s the turn of the Severn RC. On the 6th Bath CC have the morning slot while VC Walcot’s climb is in the afternoon. Youth riders get free entry to all of these events.
