Simon Rouse took on the challenge of the Welsh 12 Hour Time Trial Championship for the second year in a row – clearly the memory of last year’s pain had dimmed somewhat! Based on roads around Abergavenny, this event has a real ‘all in it together’ spirit with competitors’ support crews all willing to help out any one of the riders who needs it. Sunday’s high temperatures meant it was a tough time in the saddle for everyone, Simon did really well to cover 227.65 miles for 25th place from 54 starters, a few miles further than Simon managed in 2010.
James Chant finally got under the hour for a 25 mile tt after getting close several times in the past. The Corinium CC event had it’s course lengthened to 25.4 miles after discussions with the Highways Agency but the perfect conditions that treated the riders on Saturday morning made up for that. James finished with a time of 58.13, with an unofficial time of 57.18 at the 25 mile mark.
