There was a good turn out of wheelers
at the 2013 castle coombe easter meeting with riders representing in
both 4th and 3rd category races.
James Foster, Nigel Brown (riding for
Westbury Wheelers), and James Hawkins (in his first race) all rode
well to finish in the 4th cat bunch despite a strong head
wind on the back straight and a challenging pace. Rory Gilling of
Performance Cycles took the win from a bunch sprint.
Meanwhile Pete Humphreys, Mike Smith,
Barney Cox and Charles Rees (riding for Tor 2000) all competed in a
crash marred 3rd cat race of 120 riders where the frantic change of pace
caused a few touched wheels. Charles took the early opportunities but
all the moves failed to stick until Crispin Doyle riding for
Hargroves Cycles went solo off the front to a convincing win. Mike was the best place rider sprinting to finish in the top 15, Pete,Barney and Charles all finished safely in the bunch.
