Ash Martin was last night’s winner at the Gillingham tt, the Bikeshed-UEx rider not too far away from Paul Hopkin’s course record in spite of the windy outward leg to Mere. Jay Hookins followed up winning the previous evening’s Somer Valley CC tt with second place and was only seven seconds behind Ash. Third went to Charles Rees with Stuart Kerton and Vince Hounsome fourth and fifth. Two more riders managed to get round in under 25 minutes, Kim Little was seventh and Dan Brockway eighth.
Sarah Wheeler was fastest woman rider again, from Jane Pritchard, Jenny Lucas and Sarah Roberts with Lyn Broom competing in her first tt, finishing with a time of 34.31.
Barney Cox was the quickest junior, with George Smith and Rowan Birch close behind. James Geddes beat brother Connor for the second week in a row to leave the twins tied on points in the series.

In other recent events, Stuart Kerton finished the Welsh CA 25 mile tt near Hirwaun with a extremely fast time of 54.40, which must be the fastest ever 25 time by a GDW rider (unless anyone knows differently). Chris Mullett has also been over to Wales for a 25 mile tt, this time at Usk, finishing with a time of 1.06.24 for 41st place.
At the recent Ilton Airfiled crit races, Chris Gray picked up his first BC points, grabbing sixth in a crash-filled 4th cat race while Barney Cox did well for third place in the E/1/2/3 race.
Charles Rees was another with a good result at this week’s Thruxton crit races. Charles got in to the winning move of the E/1/2 race, one of six riders who got away from the rest. The break split up eventually with two riders pulling clear, but Charles finished in fourth.
