The third round of the GDW mountain bike series took place on a sunny Sunday morning in Stourhead Estate, with Paul Hopkins completing six very consistent and fast laps to take the win.  Paul was giving his new lightweight 29″ wheel Merida a first try out and was obviously finding it a very effective machine.  Kim Little was also out on a new 29″ wheeled bike, a Whyte.  Kim was in the lead at the end of lap one and kept Paul within range for much of the race but over the final lap of six Paul pulled out to win by 30 seconds.

Nigel Brown returned from a few weeks off of the bike due to illness and did well to get third of a race long scrap with round two winner Ollie Taylor and Julian Grundy.  They were together and swapping places throughout until the final lap and a half when Nigel got away.  Grundy was fourth despite his bike’s chain coming off on several occasions with Taylor in fifth.
Mark Hebditch rode well to sixth on his first visit with first junior Lawrence Pitman in seventh.  Eight place for Sam Willis was enough to give Sam the overall championship lead after three rounds.
