A long run challenge provided some surprising results. Rob Gale continued his enigmatic route through the series with his 10k along the Auckland seafront, others cut a 10k out of longer efforts, some walked it, some went for the solo painful effort and then along came “the athlete previously known as a cyclist” Michael Sleeman to put in a winning effort with an excellent 41 minute effort.
The running was done early in the week in the Women’s category with Sarah Wheeler’s being too strong for the rest with an impressive 51 minutes for the 10k.
With 2 more challenges remaining, Sarah has got slightly closer to Clare Coward in the women’s category. Michael has moved up 2 places to second and 5 points behind Vince Hounsome. James Little and Rich White share 3rd place 1 point behind Michael and Innes Wright a further 3 back.
Its all up for grabs, particularly given the cycling focus of the next challenge in week commencing 4 March – how far can you go over the week (non-motorised)
More detail can be found in GDW Winter Series. If you didn’t get the chance to enter a performance this week, it is not too late for the season.
