What have we found out this week? Maybe running 10k is not how many Wheelers choose to spend their leisure time (and no international submissions for the first time).
There were some injuries (and life choices, I suppose) which reduced the number of competitors this week, Melanie Birch maintained her 100% record by winning all 7 weeks in the female group. However, it has taken 7 weeks for Michael Sleeman to finally make it to the top in the Open category. His very speedy 38 minute run made him the worthy winner, whilst the the second (Vince Hounsome) and third (Rich White) were separated by 2 seconds (albeit Rich’s time was part of a 28k effort).
A dog walk and runs to fit in with family life were also recorded and all of this led to a big shift in the overall standings. Michael has taken a 9 point lead and Shawn Gray has dropped out of the top 3. The top 5 are separated by only 13 points – so everything is to play for in the final 2 rounds.
For the week commencing 3 March the challenge is to self-propel yourself horizontally as far as you can. One for the cyclists?
