Saturday’s forecast appears quite changeable depending on which way you head. A longer route to the coast has been planned for those with time on their hands, and given the forecast this will be to Abbotsbury via the Piddle valley and Hardy’s Monument, returning via Broadmayne and Milborne St Andrew. This is listed as the Pink Route, but it is likely that more than one group will follow this route.
A Blue distance and a White distance route have also been plotted, and these follow the longer route down the Piddle valley, with the White route turning back at Piddletrenthide and the Blue route almost reaching Puddletown.
Meet at 9.00 am at the Wheels car park, Station Road, Gillingham. Please ensure you download your chosen route to your GPS device, and remember to bring your ride essentials.
The Blue Group have recently often split into a ‘light’ and a ‘dark’ blue group, and there is nothing stopping other groups doing the same. All rides are no drop rides but please select a group suited to your ability!
We are also looking at offering some 2 hour weekend rides in the next few weeks for those of you who are time crunched and can’t get out for a whole morning.
Pink Route: 142.2 kms, 1,632m elevation – est speed 28 kmh+ / 17.5 mph +
Blue Route: 84.2 kms, 903 m elevation – est speed 24 kmh / 15 mph
White Route: 73.3 kms, 831 m elevation – est speed 20 kmh / 12 mph
For those who have issues downloading their routes, here’s the guide for a Garmin device and here’s the guide for a Wahoo device.
