UPDATE: The Tour of Britain have cancelled the last 3 stages of the race as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. There will be no Club Rides plotted for this weekend.
This Saturday the Tour of Britain visits our beautiful county for the first time, and there is only one route this week, which aims to view the peloton as they pass through Dorchester (for an intermediate sprint) and as they ascend Okeford Hill where the stage winning move could be launched. Ben Day is hoping to have the GDW gazebo on Okeford Hill.
The peloton are expected to reach Dorchester between midday and 12:15, and be at the base of Okeford Hill between 13:45 and 14:20.
It will be a later than usual meet up at the Wheels car park, at 9.30 am, Station Road, Gillingham, where we can split into different groups. Please ensure you download the route to your GPS device, and remember to bring your ride essentials, particularly sufficient liquid refreshement.
Tour of Britain Viewing: 99.6 kms, 1,146 m elevation
For those who have issues downloading their routes, here’s the guide for a Garmin device and here’s the guide for a Wahoo device.
