Hopefully the Festive 500 was out of our legs for a lovely 40k TT. Always one to look forward to.
The Zwifters had the advantage again. In the Women’s series, Angie Barlow managed to reverse the results from the first TT by a mere 20 seconds over Clare Coward. Clare maintains her overall lead. My guess is that Sarah Wheeler might come into her own in the next (swimming) challenge.
James Little’s tactic of posting an early result looks to have paid off again with an excellent 55:24. Others wanted to savour the opportunity to cycle. Mark Harvey saved it for a Saturday evening special for his second placed ride, whilst third placed Rich White likes TT riding so much he did it twice.
The big winner of the week was Rob Gale who, of course, chose an outdoor 40k. His ride along flooded tarmac got him rising 6 places in the overall standings. My guess is that Mike Sleeman had the most fun doing the event – and he won the most metres climbed (1,035m, albeit 4 weeks too early) in his 40k in the mountains above the Costa Brava.
The overall top 2 remain the unchanged (James followed by the ever consistent Vince Hounsome) . Rich White climbs to third and there are now 3 people tied in 4th. With the swim to come in the week commencing 22 January, Vince could rise to the top.
Take another break this week. We start again in week commencing 22 January with a 400m swim. (If you don’t have the tech, pools have big clocks. Start at the o’clock and then remember the time at your finish (probably 16 lengths. I’ll accept your word for it). My guess is that there will be a reordering of both of the league tables.

There are still 5 more events and lots of points available until mid-March. It will be interesting to see how the Wheelers’ fitness progresses over the series.
