With great weather forecast, this Saturday (8th August) there will be a long route to Portland Bill and back of just over 92 miles, heading out via Cheselbourne, Crossways and Osmington and back via Dorchester & Piddletrenthide. There will be a food stop en route, probably in Dorchester.
Anyone is welcome but if you aren’t able to keep the pace of the faster group (17+ mph average), it is important you sort out a group to suit the pace you are capable of over this distance.
With the warm temperatures it is also essential to bring sufficient water and fuel for the ride, and money for additional drinks.
As usual, we will meet at 9.00 am at Wheels car park, Station Road.
For those not wanting to do such a long ride, but wanting to visit Portland, we have also plotted an alternative shorter route from the Top O’Town car park in Dorchester, which is 42 miles and links in with the long route. Those interested in this should again liaise to organise a group, and perhaps share transport.
