The annual Gillingham Wheelers Open Time Trial took place on a shortened version of the U303 Bruton 19 mile course due to some temporary traffic lights in Charlton Musgrove. Although this meant the climb out of Bruton was removed (to the relief of some entrants!), conditions were still tough with a stiff wind blowing across sections of the course, and a slight headwind towards the finish.
A field of 40 riders started the event. Nick Livermore (Bristol South CC) had the fastest time of the day, 32:31. Fastest lady was Joanne Jago (Performance Cycles CC) in 40:56.
The day’s other winners were Ethan Moody (Tri UK – Junior), Tony Chapman (Frome DW – Veteran), Chris Broad-Drake (Swindon RC – Super Vet) and Mark Harvey was the fastest Gillingham Wheeler. The team prize was won by the Bristol South CC team.
A big thank you to Mike Smith and his team of volunteers for organising and staging the event!
