A windy night in North Dorset made it hard work for the riders at last night’s time trial, held on the tough Sturminster Newton course. There were only 21 starters, with Kim Little leading the way with 23.51. Kim beat Charles Rees by 26 seconds, by far the biggest gap between first and second places so far this season. James Hywel-Davies was third and first of the juniors, Vince Hounsome was fourth with Chris Gray just one second ahead of Adam Baker in fifth and sixth. Jane Pritchard was the quickest lady rider.
Elsewhere, John Phillips put in a good ride at the recent Bath CC Open. The event was a 10 mile tt on the Frome bypass and John beat his previous course best by 58 seconds to finish in 27.40. Chris Mullett was also riding and finished in 39th with a good time of 25.26.
At the Poole Wheelers 10 on Bank Holiday Monday, the riders had great conditions with a light headwind on the faster outward leg and a tailwind helping everyone home. James Chant continued his string of 23 minute rides on this course with a 23.43 for 31st position.
Chris Mullett and Sarah Wheeler headed up to Wootten under Edge recently for the hardest of the WTTA Hardrider time trials. This unrelenting course has well over 1,000 metres of climbing packed into its 28 miles and has some fast, technical descents. Chris was really pleased with his ride and ended up with a course best time by a few minutes, getting round in 1 hour 45.41 (39th). Sarah came home in 2.04.57 to finish in 47th out of the 49 finishers.
