Kim Little made it a clean sweep of the Sturminster time trials at tonight’s event, his time of 23.10 enough to make it three wins in a row for Kim. It was very close though, David Janes (VC Walcot) was just four seconds behind and Jay Hookins (VC St Raphael) a further six seconds back. Charles Rees would have been right in the mix as well if his chain hadn’t unshipped early on, Charles was still quick enough for fourth though. Most riders posted similar times to last week but new member Harry Sealey made a big improvement of two minutes.
There were only two junior riders present, the Geddes twins continued their see-saw battle this season with James quicker than Connor this time out.
Jane Pritchard continued winning the women’s section. Jane was well clear of Rosie Brown in second, with Jenny Lucas third and Sarah Wheeler fourth. It was good to see Lynn Broom back in action after her injury.
CC Blaenau Gwent 25
Sarah Roberts and Steve Way (now riding for Westbury Wheelers) headed over the Bristol Bridge to Usk recently to take part in a 25 mile time trial at Usk. On an ideal afternoon, there were lots of quick times set by the riders, with Sarah doing particularly well to finish with a new pb time of 1.07.35. Steve was on his fixed wheel machine as always, kitted out with a 86″ gear, and finished in 1.05.38. Kieron Davies (NBCC) was the overall winner in 47.31.
VTTA Wales 10
Another event in Wales was the VTTA 10 miler near Abergavenny, held on Saturday afternoon. It was very windy and the s-shaped course led to the riders having a mixed bag of fast and slow sections, with the return leg being pretty tough going. John Phillips did well for a time of 27.54 and 86th place wile Sarah, Steve and James Chant entered the non-aero category. Sarah struggled in the conditions to a time of 31.24, while James and Steve nearly tied, with James on 26.05 and Steve on 26.06.
