It was a bit like the old days at yesterday’s Bruton time trial, with just 13 riders tackling the hilly 19 mile course.  The latest round of the GDW time trial series was started in very dark and rainy conditions, although by the finish things had begun to improve.
The slippery road conditions didn’t seem to slow the regular pacesetters by very much at all, Andy Hopkins took his first win of 2009 in a time that was just two seconds slower than the previous event on this course.  Simon Barfoot maintained his top spot in the championship with second place and Vince Hounsome was third.
Nigel Brown managed a PB for this course but his improvement was overshadowed somewhat by Charles Rees knocking 9 minutes 55 off of his previous PB!
Emma Bradley was the fastest woman rider, beating Sarah Roberts who struggled in the bad weather and was a long way off of her usual times.
Thanks to the people involved in the timekeeping and marshalling last night, all of whom got a thorough drenching whilst standing about in the rain.
