There have been lots of GDW riders in action lately, so here’s a bit of a round up on who’s done what and where –
Circuit races –
At the Ilton Team Tor 2000 race nights, Chris Gray has been picking up points in the first two 4th cat races, with a fourth and a sixth and is nearly up to getting his 3rd cat licence. In the E/1/2 races, Barney Cox has had a 3rd and a 6th. Rowan Birch finished in the bunch in his first race at Ilton at round three while James Geddes was third in the U14 event.
Time Trials –
The RTTC National 50 mile tt champs were held on the Poole-Bere Regis-Troytown-Sturminster Marshall-Poole course. Vince Hounsome rode well on a tough windy morning, finishing 66th in 2.07.42.
Stuart Kerton came close to a new 10 mile pb time at the Fairley United CT Open, near Oxford, 15th in 22.04
James Chant got third in the non-aero category at the Somer Valley CC Open on the Bruton course, 51.13 for 19th, Chris Mullett lost a lot of time after an unprovoked altercation with a motorist but got round in 54.37 for 29th.
Triathlons –
Vince Hounsome won his age group category at the recent Hyde Park triathlon, (61st overall) in spite of losing time when a marshal sent him the wrong way during transition costing him a minute or so.
Vince was second in category and sixth overall at the Stourhead triathlon, easing up in the closing stages not realising how close his nearest rival was and he just missed out on the win. Simon Barfoot was 41st of the 108 finishers.
Mountain Biking
In the final Southern XC race of the season, Dan Riggs was 17th in the Open category at Queen Elizabeth Park near Petersfield. Dan finished in 10th place in the series overall.
