Another good turnout of 19 riders for the second Mere hillclimb, on a warm, sunny evening with a light tailwind to help everyone, good conditions leading to a few pb times. 

James Hywel-Davies scorched up the hill in a new record time of 3.33 to win both overall and first junior.  First of the grown ups was Nigel Brown, his time of 4.03 just beating James Chant (a pb time of 4.04) and Tristram More-Molyneux (4.05).
George Smith was fifth with Liam Teesdale sixth knocking more than 30 seconds from his previous best time.  Rowan Birch, James Foster and Ben Howden all set pbs as well.
Sarah Wheeler was the quickest lady rider, ahead of Sarah Roberts who made a big improvement over her time from the previous week.
Behind James HD, James Howell was second junior, just ahead of Maddie Howden who was another big improver.
**After two rounds it has been decided to call a halt to this years Hill Climb series – well done to all and especially John Phillips for finishing one place ahead of reigning Champion Kim Little!**
CC WEYMOUTH OPEN 

James Chant, Chris Mullett and Sarah Wheeler haven’t quite locked out the final three finishing positions at a tt this season but they are getting closer!  At the 10 mile CC Weymouth event on Sunday, they finished in 29th, 32nd and 36th out of 37 finishers, with James quickest on 25.15.  Chris finished with a time of 25.57 and Sarah came home in 28.09.  Pre-event favourite Adam Topham (High Wycombe CC) won the event outright with a time of 20.13.
YEOVIL CC TTs

The Yeovil CC 5 mile time trials got underway last week on a sunny but massively windy evening on the Yeovilton-Ilchester course.  James Chant was the sole GDW rider present, and got round in 12.58 to finish in fourth place from 17 starters.  This week there was perfect weather, and there was a much bigger entry of 31 riders.  James was disappointed to not make a bigger improvement in his time given the good conditions but finished in 12.35 for 14th equal.  GDW Academy rider Daisy Davies was very impressive in her first tt, completing the course in 14.22, riding ‘non-aero’.
