Charles Rees was just quickest on Wednesday night on the Gillingham tt course, with Paul Hopkins only two seconds adrift. Kim Little moved to the top of the points table with third place. Although th econditions didn’t seem as good as the previous tt on this course, there were a few pb times – Jim Broom, Mike Masterson, Paul Cooke and George Smith. We also had a few returning riders, Mike Smith, Nigel Brown, John Phillips and Mitch Pope all taking part in a tt for the first time in a while.
George Smith set the quickest time of the juniors and looks likely to win the juniors’ championship, although Barney Cox and James Hywel-Davies are tied for first after this week’s results. Jane Pritchard has all but sealed the ladies’ series now by taking a close win from Sarah Wheeler.
Next week’s tt will be on the Stour Provost course and will be our annual non-aero night. For those that don’t know, please don’t use tt bikes, any aerobars, tt/Specialized Evade style helmets, deep section wheel rims and skinsuits.
Chris Mullett has been on a good run of results in some local Open tts lately. Chris travelled over to Usk recently for a 25 mile tt, finishing in a new pb time for the distance of 1.01.17. He then followed that up with his first ever 25 mph ride, completing the New Forest CC 10 mile Open at Poole in 23.57.
Chris was also taking part in this morning’s TLI National TT Champs at Downton,along with James Chant, James Hywel-Davies and Charles Rees who was riding for Ride 24/7. Sadly the poor weather put a few riders off and there were a few DNSs on the results board. It was very wet with a lot of standing water on the roads and it was extremely windy, with all the riders struggling to keep control of their machines on the exposed part of the 15 miles New Forest course. Charles coped better than most and put in a great ride to finish second overall and first in the senior category with a time of 33.17. James Hywel-Davies was second junior and fifteenth overall with 37.36, one place ahead of James Chant (38.26) with Chris a further couple of minutes behind on 41.15 in 20th.
