There were loads of pb and season best times at the latest GDW time trial, held on the 10 mile Gillingham course on a hot and still evening. As well as a record entry of 43 riders, Charles Rees broke the course record by 14 seconds with a 22.04. Second and third went to Jay Hookins and Paul Hopkins with Kim Little setting a course pb for fourth. Adam Baker and Alex Hookins took fifth and sixth, again with pb times. Paul Cooke continues to get quicker, finishing in ninth, while Jim Broom did his first sub-30 minute ride.
Jane Pritchard took another step towards regaining the women’s championship title, beating Jenny Lucas and first-timer Amie Stanford. Sarah Roberts and Lynn Broom both did their best times this season while Lizzie Rees did well in her first tt.
George Smith was the quickest junior rider but second place was enough for Barney Cox to move to the top of the junior points table. The juniors’ series is getting very tight now, with four riders still in contention – Barney, George, James Hywel-Davies and Rowan Birch. Of the other juniors, James Geddes and Maddie Howden both completed the course with pb.s.
