It’s time to get muddy again, the mountain bike winter series begins on Sunday October 13th. There will be six races in total, see the calendar page for more details. The events will take place at the Alfred’s Tower woods near Stourhead as usual, the estate office are putting quite a few restrictions in place but Vince is aiming to come up with some good courses. Meet at the tower car park and sign in in plenty of time for a 10 am race start.
In other off road news, James Chant and Liam Teesdale headed up to Checkendon near Reading recently for the second of the Banjo XC Rampage races. The course didn’t suit either of them, being completely flat, but both enjoyed thier races. Liam was the only junior rider attending and was set off with the fast Sport category but he acquitted himself well with some quick lap times. James had his first race at OIpen level and after a slow start made up a few places to finish 17th from 37 starters.
Offcamber had the first of their winter races at Inside Park, Blandford, last weekend. The course featured a couple of new sections which both lengthened and improved the route. The Merida pairing of Paul Hopkins and Kim Little dominated the race, winning comfortably ahead of any other challengers, with Paul just ahead of Kim at the finish. Liam Teesdale did very well, first junior home and 13th overall from 58 starters. James Chant was 19th while Youth rider Toby Easby was mixing it with the tail end of the adults before having to pull out.
